An exquisite antique Edwardian reticule featuring intricate hand-crocheted lace over a pale green fabric lining. Dating to approximately the early 1900s–1910s, this small drawstring evening purse is a beautiful surviving example of the elaborate needlework accessories fashionable during the Edwardian period.
The cream crochet exterior is worked in an open floral pattern with a dimensional raised rose motif at the center. Hand-crocheted teardrop or “dingle” ornaments decorate the sides and pointed lower edge, giving the purse beautiful movement and texture. Braided crochet drawstrings gather the top, revealing a softly ruffled pale aqua interior.
Especially beautiful as an antique textile collectible, display piece, bridal accessory or addition to an Edwardian wardrobe.
